Our history

From origins to the present day

Born in 2020 from our passion for cycling and the desire to offer an ecological alternative to our urban mobility, UGO Cycle first developed expertise in electrification before designing its own bicycle models. After extensive testing, we chose to specialize exclusively in electric conversion kits with pedal motors, because of their performance, durability and the riding comfort and safety they offer.

After several years of research, we succeeded in designing conversion kits capable of fitting 95% existing bikes, while being easy to install. Having put nearly 3,000 traditional bikes back on the road thanks to our electrification solutions, our passion for cycling has continued with the creation of 3 ranges of bikes for road, city and mountain use, to ensure that every outing is enjoyed, from the first to the last kilometer.

This success stems from our ongoing commitment to research and development, whether for our conversion kits or our bikes, and from our determination to promote sustainable, responsible mobility.

Hugo

Founder of UGO Cycle, Director of Research and Development

A cyclist with a passion for nature and travel, he has been a bike mechanic since he was very young. The idea of electrifying their bikes was born when he and his family crossed Latin America. This adventure prompted Hugo to look for a solution that would enable the whole family to enjoy the ride to the full, from the first kilometer to the last, even with the weight of the children on the back. Since 2020, bike electrification has become synonymous with freedom of movement for him and for all our customers. Hugo is also a technical trainer for our certified assemblers.

Malik

Technical Manager and Trainer

An inveterate cyclist and mountain bike enthusiast, from cross-country to downhill, there's no stopping him. His electric fat bike, which accompanies him on the trails from Bromont to Mont-Tremblant, makes it easy for him to climb the hills and then enjoy the descents even more. Malik is actively involved in the design of all our bikes and kits, as well as in the testing of all our products. As quality manager from design to assembly, his top priority is your safety. Malik is also a technical trainer for our certified assemblers.

Sales Manager

Tania has been part of the UGO Cycle adventure since the very beginning. With her passion for nature and her love of family bike rides, she truly enjoys sharing her passion with others. She truly listens to the needs of every cyclist, whatever their age, physical condition or riding style. Her aim is to give you the best possible advice, whether it's about electrification or choosing your bike. Taina will ask pertinent questions about the types of rides you envisage, the distance of your commute, or whether you plan to take your bike on vacation. All with the aim of helping you make the best decisions about battery life, assistance levels, braking, and all the options you need to make your bike your new favorite way to get around.

Very good service, gift for my wife. First ride at Montmorency Falls. My wife enjoyed the experience, the bike fits very well. With a total weight of 45Lbs with pannier holders, motor, long-life battery, it's a much less expensive package than equivalent electric bikes.

Update after 360 km: bike is still going very well, allowing my wife to ride 3 to 5 km/h faster even with a headwind. The battery is still at 40%! Although she's riding at level 1, and especially on the flat, the range is impressive.

I find my little battery very efficient. I haven't tested the battery by riding at high assistance regularly, so it's hard for me to see how many km I could do that way. However, I can tell you that I easily do over a hundred km without recharging the battery.

They offer to install the UGO Cycle system on your bike, but I chose to buy their hybrid bike equipped with their UGO Cycle system. A 500-watt pedal motor, a 48V/12.8Ah battery (615 Wh) with a possible range of 150 km in Eco mode. An advantage I also really appreciate is that the bike weighs only 38 pounds without the battery, so I didn't need to change my bike rack.

I am very satisfied with the bike and also with the very attentive service of the whole UGO Cycle team.
